Supporting your 'Life Wheel'
By Adelle Helen Martin, Executive Midlife Coach and Founder of Women in Business Midlife Club
I was starting to embrace all the opportunities previous superwomen like Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Emily Pankhurst, Maya Angelou and Oprah Winfrey had created for us. I was really enjoying the success of my corporate role and my 'Career Curve' was on an upward trajectory.
As I passed my 40th birthday I was completely unaware of my hormone changes starting and the downward trajectory of my Change Curve. The only thing I did notice was that I seemed more tired and overwhelmed than normal – I was always Ms Resilient (my superpower) so I just kept going!
I had absolutely no idea of what was to come when finally, my Change and Career Curve crashed AKA 'The Clash of the Titans' - both were powerful and demanding my attention. The outcome was my light turned to dark resulting in three months out of my career to understand why I had become so unwell.
With the support of my family, doctor and workplace I decided that I would not choose between “My Body or Career.” So, I started to research what had happened to me and find solutions so I could get back to my well-earned career.
Back to Light Again
My return to light was establishing that there were “40 things to accept over 40” and finding solutions for them. I organised all my research into my MidLife Resilience System which I used to get back to my career and a world of opportunities. I have coached and educated many Women in Business and Corporates as I did not want another woman to go through the painful experience I did. I had been scared and fearful of the unknown.
Now, as a Menopause-Superwomen I have a lot of sunnier days. Yes, I still have the odd “dark” day but I do not stay there very long. I just get my Super Woman pose on to shake my 'Meno-Moment' off! If you would like support and education through the perimenopause and menopause, please reach out and get in touch. I will be with you through change and growth.
